Blog traffic is important to building a blog community. The purpose of a blog should be to build a community of visitors that share information with one another. The building block of a blog community is having traffic to the blog.

#1: Unique Content
Unique content is a key element to obtain blog traffic. There can be a million sites about a particular topic. However, if your blog offers a different take or unique information about the topic, visitors will continue to visit the site to learn more. Provide a different view or way of presenting information about a topic on a regular basis to get visitors to continue visiting your blog.

Take the time to build your blog before promoting. When visitors arrive, if there is little content or content is not updated regularly the amount of blog traffic will decrease.

#2: Join Similar Groups
Join groups that have the same or similar topic as the blog you have started. Do not spam the groups with your blog but simply add a link to the blog in your post signature. People will naturally visit the blog out of curiosity. The more similar groups that you join, the higher chance you have of increasing traffic to your blog. It is important to remember that being a blogger takes a great deal of time and dedication.

#3: Visit Other Blogs
Visit other blogs that interest you. The blogger might link to your blog if the blogs are similar to your blog and you are a regular member of the community. As always, make sure to include a link in your signature back to your blog.

#4: Add Tags
Add tags to your main blog page and sub-pages of your blog to obtain traffic. Keyword tags will enable people to find the blog easier on a search engine.

#5: Link
Traffic will increase to the blog if you will link directly to other sites within the text of the blog. Even though the side bar links are important, there should be some linking within the text. For regular community members, make sure to add them to the side bar links as well.
